At Action For Humanity (AFH) Pakistan, we are looking for a Programmes Coordinator to join us in our newly established office in Islamabad, Pakistan. The Programmes Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the planning, implementation, and monitoring of AFH Pakistan’s humanitarian and development projects and programmes. The post-holder will work closely with the field programme teams, local partners, and other key stakeholders to ensure high-quality, impactful, and timely delivery of projects. The role aims to strengthen coordination, compliance, and reporting functions, while contributing to the strategic growth of AFH Pakistan’s programme portfolio. Key responsibilities:
Programmes Management: 30%
- Ensure programmes are in line with the AFH Global and Country strategies and contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Ensure the delivery of projects and programmes with demonstrable impact and accountable for overall programme quality and learning.
- Responsible for identification of new local implementing partners for AFH Pakistan and complete the due diligence process of the partners and other stakeholders
- Ensure submission of timely and qualitative narrative and financial proposals and reports to HQ, funding partners and donors.
- Engage in relevant external networks for learning and sharing of best practice in project and programme management
- Work closely with the Country Director and programmes staff to identify emerging issues and new approaches/innovations which could lead to potential new areas of programme interventions in Pakistan.
- Participate fully in the budget process and programmes financial reporting, leading the programme budgeting process, and provide ongoing oversight and management of programme budgets in the most efficient way.
- Define and manage AFH’s Risk framework including risk policies and procedures in order to enable proactive risk management/Compliance as well as assist the Country Director in the development of AFH Pakistan policies and manuals
- Working across departments to ensure visibility of impact made through programmes team.
- Develop, implement and embed, a knowledge management system that will ensure the sharing of knowledge across the programmes.
Programme Strategy Development and Implementation 30%
- Work closely with the local implementing partners for the effective implementation of donor funded projects in Pakistan
- Facilitate visits of staff members which include Fundraisers, Programme and M&E personnel from Head office staff to project locations across Pakistan.
- Provide overall strategic and technical leadership in the design, development, planning, budgeting, and implementation of the AFH Programme Strategy.
- Assist the Country Director in the development of Country Programmes’ Strategy in line with the HQ’s Global Programmes strategy and ensure timely implementation.
Programme partnerships 20%
- Assist the Country Director in the development of strategy for Institutional Funding and Strategic Partnerships for AFH Pakistan.
- Build strategic partnerships with institutional donors, International NGOs, networks and Corporate Sector organisations, Government and represent AFH’s work
- Assist Partnership Development department in Identifying and maintaining call for proposals from institutional donors (local and international) and submit timely quality concept notes, proposals, budgets and log frames to secure quality income from bilateral and multilateral donors
- Assist the Country Director in donor scoping, analysing donors’ funding priorities, gathering related donors’ intelligence through identifying new potential donors for AFH and maintain a database of existing and potential donors in Pakistan
- Gather information about institutional donors and International NGOs according to AFH’s geographic and thematic priorities. These include GGP, GAC, EU/ECHO, FCDO, USAID, etc.
- Participate in relevant internal and external working groups, conferences and workshops in the absence of the Country Director
Monitoring and Evaluation - 20%
- Ensure an appropriate monitoring and evaluation (M&E) system is in place and is functioning satisfactorily for both humanitarian and development projects in Pakistan.
- Ensure relevant and timely M&E information is provided in user-friendly formats to relevant stakeholders, including Country Director AFH and the donors.
- Ensure maintenance of records of all project monitoring and evaluation reports, field visit reports, need assessments and baselines.
- Ensure M&E lessons learnt are in cooperated within programme strategy, planning and implementation.
Education
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in development studies, International Disaster Management and Response, Project Management or International Relations
Experience
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in the development sector of Pakistan, preferably an International NGO working in Pakistan.
- Good understanding of humanitarian and development work
- Research oriented and experience in building partnerships.
Skills
- Strong IT skills including advanced Excel skills, ability to work with lookups and pivot tables, Microsoft Outlook. PowerPoint and Power Bi (Desired)
- Excellent analytical and interpretive ability
- Reading and Research skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to a broad range of people internally and externally including non-financial specialists
Languages
- Strong written and spoken English
