The internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in participatory research, inclusive development, and gender mainstreaming in water resource management and agricultural systems.
Intern will be engaged with field-based activities focused on integrating gender and social inclusion into community-level planning, capacity-building, and policy research. Through hands-on involvement in data collection, stakeholder engagement, field assessments, and knowledge-sharing activities, the intern will contribute to advancing inclusive, equitable, and sustainable water governance.

• Assist in the development and translation of gender-sensitive research tools and survey instruments.
• Participate in baseline assessments and gender analysis at the community level. • Contribute to qualitative and quantitative data collection, cleaning, and documentation. • Support the team in developing knowledge products including reports, case studies, blogs, presentations, and policy briefs.
• Maintain regular communication with project teams and field facilitators to ensure effective coordination.
• Assist in organizing and documenting stakeholder meetings, trainings, and awareness sessions on GEDSI themes.
• Contribute to data visualization, GEDSI dashboards, and case documentation on best practices.
• Travel to local project sites as required for fieldwork, community consultations and learning exchange.
• Perform any other tasks relevant to the GEDSI agenda as assigned by the supervisor.
3. Required Qualifications and Skills:
• A recently completed (within the last 6 months) Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Sociology, Development Studies, Social Studies, or a related field.
• Demonstrated interest or academic background in community engagement, gender mainstreaming, and participatory rural development.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse community groups.
• Familiarity with qualitative and participatory research tools and field-based approaches.
• Basic understanding of gender concepts, inclusion principles, and community development.
• Good analytical and documentation skills.
• Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Fluency in English and Urdu; knowledge of Pashto will be an advantage. • Willingness to travel to field sites in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
• Self-motivated, flexible, and committed to learning in a field-based environment.
4. Duration of the Assignment:
The interns will be hired for the above tasks for a period of one year at the IWMI Field Office in Charsadda with travel to other project sites as required.
