Overview:

Jhpiego is an international non-profit health organization affiliated with The Johns Hopkins University, USA. For more than 50 years and in over 150 countries, Jhpiego has worked to prevent the needless deaths of women and their families. Jhpiego is dedicated to improving the health of women and families in developing countries. 

Purpose:

Under funding from Gavi, the vaccine alliance, Jhpiego is implementing the “Demand, Communities, and Gender: Engaging men as caregivers and supporting successful parenting towards improved immunization outcomes and equitable health services” (“Men’s engagement in immunization”) project in collaboration with ministries of health and other stakeholders in Pakistan. 

The project goal is to contribute towards Gavi gender strategy for “increasing understanding of programmatic interventions that overcome gender-related barriers, specifically engaging male caregivers and supporting successful parenting towards improved immunization outcomes and more equitable health services.” Jhpiego seeks to hire a Qualitative Data Analyst (consultant).

Specific Objectives:

  • Transcribe and/or review audio recordings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Translate Urdu transcripts into English (where applicable).
  • Clean and prepare qualitative datasets for analysis.
  • Develop a structured coding framework using the framework approach.
  • Analyze qualitative data and extract relevant themes, categories, and patterns.
  • Prepare thematic summaries and contribute to drafting the report.
  • Present key findings and insights into the core project team.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in qualitative research.
  • Coordinating with projects leads to regular updates and feedback. 

Deliverables:

  • Codebook with identified themes and sub-themes
  • Thematic summary matrix
  • Draft qualitative findings report 

Level of Efforts (LOE): The nature of consultancy will be deliverable based and will be completed in 20 days.

Payment and Working Schedule: After successfull completion and submission of assigned deliverables.

Selection Criteria:

  • Master’s degree in public health, Social Sciences, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in qualitative research, particularly in health-related projects.
  • Strong understanding of qualitative research methodologies (e.g., framework analysis, thematic coding).
  • Demonstrated experience in transcription, translation, data cleaning, coding, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Urdu and English (spoken and written).
  • Familiarity with qualitative software (e.g., NVivo, Atlas.ti, MaxQDA) is preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to produce high-quality reports.

Reporting Line: 

The consultant will report to the Technical Advisor/Project Lead.
